The reviews: Nearly all of the customer reviews mention that the vegetables get stuck on the blade rather than actually getting chopped. With a 1.4 average rating, this product appears to be a dud. One Slap Chop review says, “my dull false teeth could do better“. Ouch.

Bottom line: You’re better off using a knife or putting your $20 towards a food processor.

The reviews: The Always Fresh Containers get mixed reviews. While eleven people give it a five star rating, nearly as many give them only one star. Fans say they save money by keeping food fresh much longer. One reviewer says, “broccoli and celery rotted in record time in these containers. i had much better luck using a zip lock freezer bag.”

The bottom line: A quality home gym product for improving upper body strength without wrist pain.

The Ab Rocket

The claim: Ab Rocket gives you the abs you’ve always wanted in 5 minutes a day.

The reviews: With an average star rating of 3.7, the Emson Ab Rocket works for some, but not all. The main complaint is that the machine doesn’t provide enough resistance to produce results.  Ab Rocket enthusiasts give it good reviews as a great alternative to sit-ups.

The bottom line: If you hate sit-ups, this might be a good alternative, but don’t expect washboard abs.

Bottom line: A good backup to your home phone, but stick with a real VoIP provider if you want quality.

The reviews: The average rating for this product is just 2.2. While some users write that it improved their hearing range, others complain about the poor sound quality, interference, and short battery life.

Like most late night infomercials, you get the feeling that life is a pain.  What are the actors in The Snuggie commercial tired of?  Blankets. Blankets that slip off, trap your hands, don’t work and otherwise FAIL. Enter The Snuggie, a wearable blanket.  Yes, you may look like a Franciscan monk, but at least you can answer the phone while wearing it.

We have over 20 reviews of The Snuggie.  While the commercials touts its snuggly, warm quality, many reviewers write of the products thin fabric and poor quality.  It doesn’t wash well and smells funny.  Some people didn’t seem to mind and loved its functionality anyway, it’s likely some pub crawlers are among those positive reviewers.

There was a time when buying an as-seen-on-tv product was a complete gamble.  Though the commercials are compelling, there was no real way to tell if a product was a good buy.  Retailers didn’t stock it, so you couldn’t even see it in person before purchasing.  Increasingly, people share their opinions and read reviews, knowing that they no longer have to buy blindly.  Now if we could get more of those bar hoppers here to write a review or two we might find out just how well it holds up after a long night of drinking.

While the cult status is comical, there are surely people who fully intent to wear it at home, and not as a joke to the local pub crawl.  Where do you find out if two Snuggie blankets are worth $24.99?  Where do you find out if the infomercial promises are to be believed? There was a time when the majority of cleaning supplies sold at your local retailer were toxic smelling and colored lurid shades of blue.  If you didn’t have to squint and breathe through your nose while cleaning your tub with one of these products, you probably thought the stuff in the bottle wasn’t doing the job.  Now, even Clorox has jumped on the green cleaning bandwagon with a line called Clorox Green Works that claims to be easier on the environment and less toxic to you.  There are quite a few brands, Seventh Generation, being one of the first early leaders, who have championed green cleaning supplies.  But the standouts among all these seems to be the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day brand.   With the retro looking labels making them look like something your grandmother might have used, and the pleasantly scented solutions, it’s not hard to see why.

Mrs. Meyer’s has gained a bit of a cult following.  Reviewers say the products (despite being green and refreshingly free of the usual array of toxins found in other cleaning products) actually make people want to clean MORE.   “Addictive!” says one reviewer.  “I’ll never go back to those awful products I was using before!” says another.  One reviewer claims that the Lemon Verbena scented line, “…makes cleaning more fun.”  That’s right, fun.  Of the Honeysuckle Mrs. Meyer’s Cleaner, someone writes:  “I love putting some water in the sink, adding a little bit of the All-Purpose Cleaner and going to town!”

So, are these people crazy or just happy to finally have an alternative to the scary looking cleaning products of the past?  Is it simply the fact that the products clean and deoderize well?  Or is it the smell?  Several people say the smell of some of the Mrs. Meyer’s products bring back memories of childhood – the Honeysuckle product line reminding one woman of the vine outside her window.  Do you have any Mrs. Meyer’s products in your house and if so are they as incredible as the reviews suggest?  Oh and if you are a Mrs. Meyer’s groupie, check out their limited edition Peppermint cleaning line that smells like candy canes – just in time for the holidays.
