It’s been a tough year economically and everyone is watching their spending. With the holidays right around the corner, it’s going to be even harder than ever. That’s why Buzzillions has found the best deals in each category to help you with your holiday shopping. These aren’t just the cheapest products, because what’s the point of getting a cheap product if it doesn’t do what you want? These are products where you feel like you are getting far more value than what you paid. These are products that are highly ranked yet won’t break the bank. These are the Buzzillions Most For Your Money winners.

The Most For Your Money winners are determined based on user reviews. To ensure the winners are relevant and not discontinued or out of stock, we only use reviews from January to September 2009. Products in each category are then ranked with a special algorithm that incorporates star ratings, number of reviews and the reliability of the reviewers (reviews by “Verified Buyers” are given more weight). A price comparison is performed on the highest ranked products to determine the Most For Your Money winners for each category.

***Note that these awards are NOT influenced by any sponsorship or payments. They are based solely on the product reviews of real consumers and price reported to us by retailers.

This feature lets you:

You can see these buttons on the results pages, product pages and single review pages – both at the top and bottom of the page. So start sharing your favorite products or any funny reviews you might run across (there are lots of those out there)!

In order to support all these cool new features while still maintaining site usability, we decided to overhaul the site design. This has given us an opportunity to strengthen the branding on Buzzillions. You’ll notice a new color scheme and header, as well as enhanced navgation as you browse the site. We’ve tried to keep things simple, which is one of the things many of you said you liked about our site, but also added in some more color and pizzazz, another frequent comment about the site (too plain!).

New Feature: My List

Buzzillions is making it easier for you to research products before you buy. We’ve launched a new feature called My List that let’s you quickly save products while you browse the site. If you find a product you’re intereted in, add to My List so you can return to it later. If you can’t decide between two products, add both of them to My List so you can compare them.

My List will appear at the bottom of every page on Buzzillions so it’s always easy to access but stays out of your way while cruising the site.

You can add products to My List by using the button the results page or product page.

You don’t have to be logged in to use My List. And we’ll keep track of your products so that next time you visit our site, they’ll still be there waiting for you.

New Feature: Review Comments

As someone who spends a lot of time researching and reading reviews, I’m sure you’ve run across one or two reviews where you made a mental eye roll and thought to yourself “this guy’s got it all wrong”. It’s always extremely frustrating to not be able to set the record straight. Well, now’s your chance.

Buzzillions has just implemented review comments. When scanning the review snippets, you can see if anyone has commented on a review.

If you would like to add your own comment you can do this on the review page. Simply click on the review title, More>> link, Read Full Review>> link or Comments link to get to the review page. At the bottom of the review is a section where you can read current comments on that review as well as add your own.

Recently we have been reaching out to bloggers, people who are passionate about saving money, getting quality products and finding the right product for them. Some are moms who (time crunched and budget conscious) know that in order to make wise product decisions they must read reviews. Others are simply people who write about savvy ways to save money, find bargains and get the best deal…something even more important in today’s economy. We asked for feedback about our site from these wonderful bloggers and got some great insights about how to make our site even better. When reading comments about our site on these blogs, what we noticed several times was that people wanted an improved search; a way to search within categories as opposed to one general search. We took note of these suggestions since we’re always trying to improve your experience on the site and we launched a feature on our site that will make searching much easier. Any website worth their salt in engineering power has its labs section and Buzzillions is no different.

Buzzillions Labs is where the engineers get to play. A lot times we have great ideas but they’re untested. Or it’s so far out there that we’re not sure our core users are ready for them. This is a place where we can try out new stuff, no matter how crazy. Maybe they’ll be perfected and added to the main site. Maybe they won’t. But it’s always a fun place.
